General safety
Use normal precautions: keep valuables out of sight, be aware of pickpockets in crowded areas and agree on prices before accepting services. Check your government's current travel advice before departure.
Dress and etiquette
Moroccans are used to visitors, but modest clothing is appreciated, especially outside the main tourist areas and in religious sites. Ask before photographing people.
Health and water
Drink bottled or filtered water. Bring sun protection and any regular medication. Travel insurance with medical cover is strongly recommended.
Mobile data
SIM cards from the main operators (Maroc Telecom, Orange and inwi) are available at airports and shops with a passport. An eSIM is another option if your phone supports it.
Guides and scams
Use licensed guides arranged through your accommodation or tourist office. Politely decline unsolicited offers to lead you to shops or hotels.
