Riding Al Boraq and seeing Morocco by train

How the high-speed line between Tangier and Casablanca works, plus tips for ONCF trains elsewhere in the country.

What Al Boraq is

Al Boraq is the high-speed service run by ONCF between Tangier and Casablanca via Kenitra and Rabat. It is the fastest way to move along Morocco's Atlantic corridor and is comfortable, air-conditioned and reasonably priced.

Booking tips

Book through the ONCF website, app or at stations. Tickets for popular times, especially Fridays and holidays, can sell out. Arrive at least 20 minutes early to find your platform.

Beyond the high-speed line

Conventional ONCF trains link Casablanca and Rabat with Meknes, Fes, Taza and Oujda, and Casablanca with Marrakech. For destinations without a station, such as Essaouira or Chefchaouen, Supratours and CTM buses are the standard choice.
